Translation of the verse 18 from Surah Ta-Ha : Number of verses 135 - - page 313 - Part 16.

surah طه ayah 18 - He said,


﴾قَالَ هِيَ عَصَايَ أَتَوَكَّؤُاْ عَلَيۡهَا وَأَهُشُّ بِهَا عَلَىٰ غَنَمِي وَلِيَ فِيهَا مَـَٔارِبُ أُخۡرَىٰ ﴿
[ طه: 18]

He said: "This is my stick, whereon I lean, and wherewith I beat down branches for my sheep, and wherein I find other uses."


English - Sahih International

He said, "It is my staff; I lean upon it, and I bring down leaves for my sheep and I have therein other uses."

Tafheem-ul-Quran by Syed Abu-al-A'la Maududi

(20:18) Moses replied, "It is my staff: I lean upon it and I beat down leaves with it for my flock, and I have quite a few other uses for it." *12

*12) Prophet Moses deliberately prolonged his answer and did not stop at: "It is my staff". This was because he naturally wanted to prolong the dialogue to make the privilege meeting last longer.
