Translation of the verse 22 from Surah Az-Zukhruf : Number of verses 89 - - page 490 - Part 25.

﴾بَلۡ قَالُوٓاْ إِنَّا وَجَدۡنَآ ءَابَآءَنَا عَلَىٰٓ أُمَّةٖ وَإِنَّا عَلَىٰٓ ءَاثَٰرِهِم مُّهۡتَدُونَ ﴿
[ الزخرف: 22]

Nay! They say: "We found our fathers following a certain way and religion, and we guide ourselves by their footsteps."

English - Sahih International

Rather, they say, "Indeed, we found our fathers upon a religion, and we are in their footsteps [rightly] guided."

Tafheem-ul-Quran by Syed Abu-al-A'la Maududi

(43:22) Nay; they simply claim: 'We found our forefathers on a way, and we continue to find guidance in their footsteps.' *22

*22) That is, "They have no authority of any divine book; the only authority they have is that it has becn the practice since the time of their forefathers: therefore, they have taken the angels as goddesses in imitation of them."
