﴾فَأَصَابَهُمۡ سَيِّـَٔاتُ مَا عَمِلُواْ وَحَاقَ بِهِم مَّا كَانُواْ بِهِۦ يَسۡتَهۡزِءُونَ ﴿
[ النحل: 34]

Then, the evil results of their deeds overtook them, and that at which they used to mock surrounded them.

So they were struck by the evil consequences of what they did and were enveloped by what they used to ridicule.
