Surat Maryam Verse No. 7: Reading and listening

Translation of the verse 7 from Surah Maryam : Number of verses 98 - - page 305 - Part 16.

﴾يَٰزَكَرِيَّآ إِنَّا نُبَشِّرُكَ بِغُلَٰمٍ ٱسۡمُهُۥ يَحۡيَىٰ لَمۡ نَجۡعَل لَّهُۥ مِن قَبۡلُ سَمِيّٗا ﴿
[ مريم: 7]

(Allah said) "O Zakariya (Zachariah)! Verily, We give you the glad tidings of a son, His name will be Yahya (John). We have given that name to none before (him)."

English - Sahih International

[He was told], "O Zechariah, indeed We give you good tidings of a boy whose name will be John. We have not assigned to any before [this] name."

Tafheem-ul-Quran by Syed Abu-al-A'la Maududi

(19:7) (The answer was: ) "O Zachariah, We give you the good news of a son, who will be called Yahya ( John) . We have not created any other man of this name before. " *5
