وَالْفَجْرِ(1)
89:1 By the dawn

وَلَيَالٍ عَشْرٍ(2)
89:2 And [by] ten nights

وَالشَّفْعِ وَالْوَتْرِ(3)
89:3 And [by] the even [number] and the odd

وَاللَّيْلِ إِذَا يَسْرِ(4)
89:4 And [by] the night when it passes,

هَلْ فِي ذَٰلِكَ قَسَمٌ لِّذِي حِجْرٍ(5)
89:5 Is there [not] in [all] that an oath [sufficient] for one of perception?

أَلَمْ تَرَ كَيْفَ فَعَلَ رَبُّكَ بِعَادٍ(6)
89:6 Have you not considered how your Lord dealt with 'Aad -

إِرَمَ ذَاتِ الْعِمَادِ(7)
89:7 [With] Iram - who had lofty pillars,

الَّتِي لَمْ يُخْلَقْ مِثْلُهَا فِي الْبِلَادِ(8)
89:8 The likes of whom had never been created in the land?

وَثَمُودَ الَّذِينَ جَابُوا الصَّخْرَ بِالْوَادِ(9)
89:9 And [with] Thamud, who carved out the rocks in the valley?

وَفِرْعَوْنَ ذِي الْأَوْتَادِ(10)
89:10 And [with] Pharaoh, owner of the stakes? -

الَّذِينَ طَغَوْا فِي الْبِلَادِ(11)
89:11 [All of] whom oppressed within the lands

فَأَكْثَرُوا فِيهَا الْفَسَادَ(12)
89:12 And increased therein the corruption.

فَصَبَّ عَلَيْهِمْ رَبُّكَ سَوْطَ عَذَابٍ(13)
89:13 So your Lord poured upon them a scourge of punishment.

إِنَّ رَبَّكَ لَبِالْمِرْصَادِ(14)
89:14 Indeed, your Lord is in observation.

فَأَمَّا الْإِنسَانُ إِذَا مَا ابْتَلَاهُ رَبُّهُ فَأَكْرَمَهُ وَنَعَّمَهُ فَيَقُولُ رَبِّي أَكْرَمَنِ(15)
89:15 And as for man, when his Lord tries him and [thus] is generous to him and favors him, he says, "My Lord has honored me."

وَأَمَّا إِذَا مَا ابْتَلَاهُ فَقَدَرَ عَلَيْهِ رِزْقَهُ فَيَقُولُ رَبِّي أَهَانَنِ(16)
89:16 But when He tries him and restricts his provision, he says, "My Lord has humiliated me."

كَلَّا ۖ بَل لَّا تُكْرِمُونَ الْيَتِيمَ(17)
89:17 No! But you do not honor the orphan

وَلَا تَحَاضُّونَ عَلَىٰ طَعَامِ الْمِسْكِينِ(18)
89:18 And you do not encourage one another to feed the poor.

وَتَأْكُلُونَ التُّرَاثَ أَكْلًا لَّمًّا(19)
89:19 And you consume inheritance, devouring [it] altogether,

وَتُحِبُّونَ الْمَالَ حُبًّا جَمًّا(20)
89:20 And you love wealth with immense love.

كَلَّا إِذَا دُكَّتِ الْأَرْضُ دَكًّا دَكًّا(21)
89:21 No! When the earth has been leveled - pounded and crushed -

وَجَاءَ رَبُّكَ وَالْمَلَكُ صَفًّا صَفًّا(22)
89:22 And your Lord has come and the angels, rank upon rank,

وَجِيءَ يَوْمَئِذٍ بِجَهَنَّمَ ۚ يَوْمَئِذٍ يَتَذَكَّرُ الْإِنسَانُ وَأَنَّىٰ لَهُ الذِّكْرَىٰ(23)
89:23 And brought [within view], that Day, is Hell - that Day, man will remember, but what good to him will be the remembrance?

يَقُولُ يَا لَيْتَنِي قَدَّمْتُ لِحَيَاتِي(24)
89:24 He will say, "Oh, I wish I had sent ahead [some good] for my life."

فَيَوْمَئِذٍ لَّا يُعَذِّبُ عَذَابَهُ أَحَدٌ(25)
89:25 So on that Day, none will punish [as severely] as His punishment,

وَلَا يُوثِقُ وَثَاقَهُ أَحَدٌ(26)
89:26 And none will bind [as severely] as His binding [of the evildoers].

يَا أَيَّتُهَا النَّفْسُ الْمُطْمَئِنَّةُ(27)
89:27 [To the righteous it will be said], "O reassured soul,

ارْجِعِي إِلَىٰ رَبِّكِ رَاضِيَةً مَّرْضِيَّةً(28)
89:28 Return to your Lord, well-pleased and pleasing [to Him],

فَادْخُلِي فِي عِبَادِي(29)
89:29 And enter among My [righteous] servants

وَادْخُلِي جَنَّتِي(30)
89:30 And enter My Paradise."
